NDB announced its recognition at the 2024 Dragons of Sri Lanka Awards for its outstanding NDB Avurudu Island Campaign, which won the Silver Dragon in the Best Social Media or Word of Mouth Campaign category. Additionally, this campaign was also awarded the Black Dragon under the Best Small Budget Campaign category.
The NDB Avurudu Island Campaign, a collaborative effort with InGameEsports Sri Lanka, brought the Sinhala and Tamil New Year to life through an engaging, interactive digital experience. Players were invited to explore a vibrant virtual Avurudu Island, where they participated in culturally significant games and activities.
The campaign’s storyline revolved around players uniting to locate NDB fragments that unlocked powers to overcome the “Economic Demon” threatening the island, creating a unique blend of entertainment and empowerment.
A key element of the campaign was its seamless integration of NDB NEOS, the bank’s state-of-the-art digital banking platform. Through in-game demonstrations, players experienced the ease and accessibility of NEOS for making QR payments, purchasing virtual goods, and participating in the traditional Avurudu practice of “ganudenu” (gift exchange). This innovative approach effectively showcased the app’s capabilities while fostering a deeper connection with younger audiences.
