One World Duty Free enters South Asia with Colombo store

Keira Zhang

One World Duty Free (ODF), Singapore’s first home-grown omnichannel duty-free brand, has entered the South Asian market with the opening of its newest store at Port City Duty Free Mall in Colombo.

The store, which opened on January 1, 2025, aims to offer a premium shopping experience to both international travellers and local consumers.

“The opening of our flagship store in Sri Lanka’s Port City is a pivotal moment for ODF as we expand into the South Asian market.

Our carefully curated selection of world-class brands and categories underscores our dedication to providing travellers with an unmatched retail experience. This initiative also supports Colombo’s transformation into a leading retail and tourism hub,” said ODF Chief Executive Officer Keira Zhang.

Currently, the store introduces five core product categories: fragrances, wines and spirits, sunglasses, time-pieces and toys.

The store features brands such as Calvin Klein, Burberry, Chloe, Davidoff, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Mont Blanc, Saint Laurent, Seiko, Casio, LEGO and Disney, among others.

Zhang noted that ODF is looking forward to the completion of the second phase of its Port City Duty-Free store by March 2025, as the expansion would fully realise the store’s 12,800 sq. ft. retail footprint. The duty-free store at Port City is expected to attract over two million visitors annually, demonstrating its position as a premier shopping destination.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan passport holders, including the dual citizens of Sri Lanka and foreign passport holders, with resident visa in Sri Lanka (who have returned to Sri Lanka with a valid proof of arrival), are eligible for an annual duty-free allowance of US $ 2000.

The commencement of the allowance is permitted for four days from the first day of the arrival.

The tourists with valid foreign passports are not subjected to an annual allowance limit and are eligible to purchase from the duty-free store from the date of arrival. Their purchases can conveniently be collected from the airport pickup counter at Bandaranaike International Airport.
