Fintech Association of Sri Lanka (FASL) Founding President Rajkumar Kanagasingam has been named as the Bronze award winner, under the Executive of the Year - Financial Technology category, at The Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence in 2024.

The awarding ceremony will be held in September at Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.

The Stevie Awards were created in 2002 to honour and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organisations and working professionals worldwide. There are more than 12,000 nominations received each year internationally.

Rajkumar has participated in a number of international fintech forums in India, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Vietnam as a speaker, moderator, facilitator or a jury.

He is the coordinator of the FASL’s initiative to draft a report titled ‘Enhancing Colombo International Financial City (Port City Colombo) as a Leading Fintech Hub in South Asia’ to submit to the president of Sri Lanka. The initiative is being assisted by a number of fintech experts globally and Prof. Douglas Arner, the Kerry Holdings Professor in Law at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) as the chief consultant.

Rajkumar founded with his Indian business partner an e-commerce venture in 2001, which had the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka approval but victimised at the very beginning by the dot-com crash.

He involved in 2017 as a team member of the Middle East-based INGOT Coin, the first fully-integrated Wallet with a Digital Bank, Brokerage, Exchange, Certifier and ICO Accelerator; the blockchain-based partially decentralised initiative was paused because of regulatory and other issues. He then focused on blockchain-based Security Token Offerings.

Rajkumar is the Founder and CEO of Asian FinTech Academy (AFTA), which conducts executive programmes on fintech, digital assets and AI in finance and organises Asian Digital Finance Forum and Awards annually.

Monetary Authority of Singapore Chief Fintech Officer Sopnendu Mohanty stated in 2021, “I am pleased to see the effort made by the AFTA to create awareness on the blockchain-enabled digital financial world.”

He is a founding member of the Hong Kong-based International Digital Economies Association, which has chapters in all the continents.
