SLASSCOM presents Strategic Policy Framework to Presidential candidates



SLASSCOM, the national chamber for the Knowledge and Innovation (IT&BPM) industry in Sri Lanka, recently handed over its strategic policy document titled ‘Igniting Knowledge, Inspiring Growth’ to the country’s leading presidential candidates: President Ranil Wickremasinghe Sajith Premadasa (SJB), Anura Kumara Dissanayake (NPP), and the General Secretary and representatives of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).


The document outlines a comprehensive policy framework designed to enhance the competitiveness of Sri Lanka’s IT and BPM sector. 


It focuses on ensuring access to skill development and education, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, and improving the overall business environment to fuel industry growth.


A collaborative effort for sustainable growth - The policy framework was developed through a consultative process, incorporating inputs from leaders of SLASSCOM member companies and other key stakeholders. It emphasizes the importance of long-term, consistent policies to drive sustainable growth in the knowledge and innovation sector.


The framework also highlights the critical role of the knowledge and innovation (IT&BPM) sector as a key contributor to Sri Lanka’s export economy. By strengthening the country’s capacity to innovate and build a globally competitive workforce, the recommendations aim to bolster foreign exchange earnings and contribute significantly to overall economic development.


Positioning Sri Lanka on the Global Stage -This strategic policy framework is expected to position Sri Lanka as a major player in the global knowledge and innovation economy. The knowledge and innovation (IT&BPM) sector has been a significant driver of export growth, and these recommendations will further enhance the sector’s ability to compete internationally while supporting national economic goals.


SLASSCOM is the national chamber for the Knowledge and Innovation (IT&BPM) industry in Sri Lanka, representing over 350 member companies that contribute significantly to the country’s export earnings. 


It facilitates industry growth through capacity building, policy advocacy, and global market expansion, positioning Sri Lanka as a leading destination for IT and BPM services.
