While the court decision was made for the Immigration Department to revert to the earlier ETA, SLT-Mobitel is “geared up and ready” to resume operations, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) said.

“They are waiting for the Immigration to communicate officially to restore the previous system,” SLTDA Chairman Priantha Fernando told Mirror Business yesterday.

Reflecting the sentiments of the tourism industry stakeholders, who urged the reinstatement of the old online system, Fernando stressed it is imperative to treat this as top priority.

“We need to get it restored as soon as possible, if minimal damage is to be done from a tourism perspective,” Fernando reiterated.

In the interest of the economy and tourism, Fernando said it is hoped that the transition happens by today latest.
