Sri Lanka’s top women entrepreneurs will take the centre stage today, as WCIC Prathibhabhisheka – Women Entrepreneur Awards 2024 kicks off, recognising their resilience, innovation and impact on the national economy.
WCIC Prathibhabhisheka will put the spotlight on the remarkable achievements of outstanding women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka and the SAARC region.
The programme, an evolution of the Women Entrepreneur Awards previously conducted by the WCIC, has grown significantly in stature and prominence over the years. This marks the third consecutive award ceremony under the new theme.
“It is an initiative that assesses strategic thinking, financial practices and governance, while promoting the concept of women-owned and women-led businesses,” said WCIC Chairperson Gayani de Alwis.
According to WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Co-Chairpersons Nilani Seneviratne and Tusitha Kumarakulasingam, the competition has attracted a wide range of businesses—start-ups, micro, small, medium and large—from all nine provinces.
The Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards will be presented for each category, with specific revenue benchmarks set for the year under review. Additionally, the Best of the Province award will recognise the most outstanding entrepreneur from each province.
The event also features special awards for categories such as Young Woman Entrepreneur, Most Outstanding Start-Up, Woman of Courage, Most Outstanding Export-Oriented Entrepreneur, Best of the SAARC Region, Digital Entrepreneur, Most Innovative Entrepreneur, Social Entrepreneur and The Woman Entrepreneur of the Year – 2024.
The WCIC, Sri Lanka’s premier national chamber for supporting women entrepreneurs and professional businesswomen, continues its mission to empower women through initiatives such as WCIC Prathibhabhisheka.
