Sri Lanka’s largest and most prestigious three-day maritime and logistics conference will be held from November 27 to 29, at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, with over 60 speakers participating.
Two high-profile speakers will inaugurate the conference, which will be followed by a panel discussion joined by esteemed officials from Sri Lanka, India and the USA.
Jonathan R. Goldner has been with the A.P. Moller-Maersk organisation for over 27 years. He is currently a member of the APM Terminals Executive Team and serves as Chief Executive Asia and Middle East. In this capacity, he is responsible for the APM Terminals operations, JV investments and supports new investment initiatives across the region.
Goldner will focus on global and Indian subcontinent outlook and the changing face of port competition, dealing with volatility and shifts in port demand, which will have regional dimensions.
Ports are now transforming into multiscale approaches for port performance. Considering the global maritime trends, terminal operators will have to realign to meet the demands that are forecasted for the next 20 years. Representing APM Terminals, a global leader, he will discuss a global and regional outlook for container terminals.
Dr. Malini V. Shankar, who is the current Vice Chancellor of the Indian Maritime University, will be the keynote speaker and will present on the Indian maritime vision and role in South Asia, India growth story and opportunities therein for Sri Lanka.
A career bureaucrat belonging to the 1984 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, Shankar has had an illustrious career spanning over three-and-a-half decades. Her last assignment was Director General Shipping, on the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.
She is currently Chairperson of the National Shipping Board (Government of India) and a Member of the government-appointed board of directors of the IL&FS group of companies.
