Wheel Masters, a leader in the automobile aftercare sector serving the North Central province for over three decades, unveiled a new theme called ‘Diversity-Equity-Inclusion (DEI)’, with the objective of adding value to its HR practices, by recruiting six differently-abled employees.

The company pioneers in deploying females to the automobile after service, starting from way back in 1998. Now the company blends all genders, ethnicities and differently-abled individuals.

“I have seen plenty of worthy courses by Wheel Masters but this concept blows my mind as to how it could initiate such a theme in a remote area like Anuradapura,” said the chief guest of the launch event, Nuwaragam Palatha East Assistant Government Agent Sampath Darmadasa.

The Social Service Department has played a key role in training and recruiting these underprivileged individuals.
This concept was initiated in the USA by President Lyndon Johnson following the civil rights movement of Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960s where all the First World countries began practicing this concept as a fair trade initiative.

“Few months back, I attended a Rotary training seminar in Habarana under the governorship of Rotarian Sushena, in connection with the implementation of the DEI concept in Rotary. That event encouraged me to introduce this wonderful theme to my organisation too,” said Wheel Masters (Pvt.) Ltd. Managing Director Amal Piyatilake.
