IIT Campus continues winning streak at NBQSA

The Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) once again bagged multiple accolades at the recently concluded National Best Quality Software Awards 2015. 

This was sixth year IIT Campus has been adjudicated as a winner at NBQSA since the competitions inception in 1998.
This year Samiyuru Senarathne from IIT bagged the Silver Award in the Tertiary category for the Best Open Source Technology Product. The product was a CGUi Tool chain for Developing Customized Graphical User Interfaces for Multiple Platforms. 
Samiyuru was the only individual competitor under the Tertiary Category of the NBQSA 2015 that contended against teams representing several prominent companies and universities. 
Along with Samiyuru two teams representing IIT Campus received merit awards under the Tertiary Category of the NBQSA 2015. IIT Campus students Sumal Perera,  Devmie Wannakuwatte and Sajith Mendis received a merit award for their product Bunny Raptor OCR, while Kripa Jayakumar, Sahan Bakmiwewa and Jayanga Kaushalya also bagged a merit award for their product Drogo. 
At last year’s NBQSA, Geraldine Hashani Fernando also an IIT student bagged the Silver Award for her project known as the DroidCard. Her product was conceptualized with the aim of mitigating crimes, risks and issues related to physical bank cards and were based on the concept of having virtual bank cards on mobile phones, which can be communicated with ATMs via a secured NFC channel. This system also enables remote access during the theft of a mobile phone and consists of decision making and data analysis features for added security. 
Early, this year IIT Campus students set a new record at the Microsoft Imagine Cup Sri Lanka finals by being the only higher education institution to win in all three categories with seven teams representing IIT winning six awards.

The University of Westminster degrees offered at IIT include Software Engineering, Information System with Business Management (ISBM) and Computer Science with specialization pathways in gaming and computer graphics development, mobile and web computing and multimedia computing.
