Lancome introduces skin care range and cosmetic products to Sri Lanka

Lancome, the French iconic brand, a product which is been sold every five seconds in the world, introduced a new line of skincare and makeup  products to the Sri Lankan market recently. The skincare range features products such as the toner, cleanser and serum while the makeup collection includes  Mascara, eye shadow, liners for the eye makeup, blushes, concealers, compact powders which is made to suit all skin types and lipstick, gloss, lipliner  were  among the other  few products that were launched at the event held at  Water’s edge.
Skin care which is the main business for the 80-year old company  is a household name across Europe and also in Sri Lanka since its launch of fragrances  few years ago.
Lancome which was found by Armand Petitjean in France, is a part of the L’oreal luxury products which offers skincare, fragrances, and makeup.
The name Lancome was inspired by the ruins of a castle, Le Chateau de Lancome, while the roses in the area inspired the company’s symbol; the single golden rose.
Lancome Zone Director New Markets, Jerome Georges Vivien, detailing about their performance in the skin care segment said that they have had Euro 1.3 billion sales in 2015 and already the product is available in 155 countries around the world.
“We are extremely proud to be in Sri Lanka. The aim is to simulate Sri Lankan beauty in whatever age by offering best of signs” he said noting  that Lancome has opened a new chapter in modern skin care as it works as a advance skin corrector, dark skin corrector and does lifting and firming. 
Speaking to Mirror business, Exclusive Lines ( Pvt) Ltd,  Director Hiru H Surtani said the reason to introduce a wide range of  products to the Sri Lankan market is that they believed it is the right time to do so  due to reasons such as the  change in the economy, pleasant environment in the country and the increase of socialized events in Colombo.
“The segment for skincare is now growing rapidly, there is a lot to loyalty towards skin care by the customers, we have a lot of customers asking fro skincare” he said.
Talking about the luxury goods that was introduced he said, “We have skin care for both body and face, it can vary from cleansers, toners from whitening to serum, when it comes to makeup we have from cheeks, lips to eyes” 
“It will transform your look within 20 minutes” he added.
When asked about the safety and suitability of the products to Sri Lankan women  he assured that it will be safe.
“it is like taking medication or  going to the pharmacy or doctor, where they prescribe something and you see the results” he said.
Certifying about the quality of the ingredients he told  that Lankome has its own research centre in Paris where they conduct  individual researches  for every ingredient.
“ If for  the brand to be number one or two in the world that means they have been successful, the products has been clinically proven that the products works on you, the  results prove that we are in the right direction” he said.
Lancome has been acclaimed as the number one product in Europe, number two in Asia and number three in the world which has won over 130 awards worldwide.
Also Surtani  was confident the makeup segment will do well in Sri Lanka since many people who visited their stalls insisted to bring it in to the  Sri Lankan market.
Further he said that they are looking forward to take Lancome to different levels in the coming years and concluded with a hint of bringing down Hollywood actress  Julia Roberts who is one of the  emblematic ambassador of Lancome, to their next big launch in Sri Lanka.
The event also included demonstrations of  make up done by Lancome beauticians. 
The products will be available in Majestic city, Crescat and Odel Colombo 7 and they are expecting to expand it to three more outlets by this week.
