The Certificate Programme will commence on 23 June, and continue up to the end of August. Classes will be held only on Saturdays from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm. Deadline for enrolment is 16th June and the Venue is Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (The Hotel School), Colombo 3.
EBD is a highly business oriented programme and exclusively designed to offer in-depth knowledge on diverse subjects related to nature, adventure, ecotourism and sustainable tourism, in a short period of time. The Certificate Programme will focus on how ecotourism activities and resources could be utilised to generate successful and viable businesses in this important niche segment. EBD has specially been designed to educate those who are already in tourism business and others looking forward to start new business ventures in Ecotourism.
There are about 35 modules of EBD which would cover almost all important areas related to ecotourism in 50 hours lecture/presentation series within 11 (eleven) days, including the field trips and technical tours. SLEF prefers to enrol participants who have a flair and enthusiasm to learn more about sustainability and ecotourism at its depths. The maximum intake for the programme will be only 25 participants.
The ideal candidates to follow the EBD Programme should be; Travel and Tourism Marketing/ Planning Executive and decision makers, adventure and nature based tour operators, team building experts and operators, University students, teachers, researchers, architects, landscape designers, practising national tourist guides, National Chauffer Guides, area and site tourist guides and those who are interested in tour guiding and interpretation, hotels, Guest Houses, Restaurants, Ecolodge owners/ staffs, those who wish to gather knowledge and share experience in developing their own properties for ecotourism businesses, travel journalists and those who are interested in widening their horizons in sustainable and ecotourism are eligible for this training course.
