Apparel sector Feb. export earnings up 0.19% Year-on-Year

Sri Lanka’s apparel sector saw its revenue for the month of February expand marginally by 0.19 percent Year-on-Year (YoY), reaching US$ 398 million.
While exports to the United States and the United Kingdom expanded by 5.94 percent and 22.61 percent to US$ 165 million and US$ 64 million, exports to the Europe Union (EU) dipped 1.05 percent YoY to US$ 112 million. In February, exports to other markets dipped by 25 percent YoY to US$ 56 million.

However, cumulative exports for the January to February period contracted by 4.8 percent to US$ 756 million. For the given period, exports to the United States, Europe Union, and other markets contracted by 6.2 percent, 5.2 percent, and 10.32 percent. Exports to the United Kingdom grew by 7.31 percent.
