ICC former chief Ajay Banga becomes 14th World Bank President

Distinguished global leader and former International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Chairman Ajay Banga takes on the post of 14th President of the World Bank for a five-year term, beginning June 2023. 

Banga brings his new role a wealth of experience and expertise. His appointment follows a rigorous selection process conducted by the World Bank’s Executive Directors. Banga, an accomplished business executive and thought leader, has a proven track record of driving inclusive growth and economic development. He actively engaged with policymakers, business leaders and stakeholders worldwide to advocate for policies that promote open markets, trade liberalisation and a conducive business environment.
