July tea production down YoY, but up from June



Tea production in July witnessed a marginal dip of 0.31 MnKgs when compared with the corresponding period the previous year. However, the July production of 26.16 MnKg is higher than the 25.93 MnKg recorded in June 2021.

According to Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers, High and Low elevations have shown a decline, while the Medium Growns recorded a marginal gain over the corresponding month of 2020.

Cumulative analysis for the first seven months of the year ending July show that tea production reached 187.78 MnKg, recording a gain of 30.84 MnKg when compared with the corresponding period the previous year.

For the January to July 2021 period, all elevations have shown substantial gains, with the Low Growns in particular gaining 22 percent when compared with the same period in 2020.

Furthermore, cumulative production of CTC teas for the January-July 2021 period totalled 16.18 MnKg, recording a 2.24 Mnkgs increase in comparison to January-July 2020 period.

Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers said that just as for other Growns, for CTC, all elevations have shown a significant gain Year-on-Year (YoY) when compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
