UK re-issues travel advisory against SL

The United Kingdom has re-issued a travel advisory against visiting Sri Lanka, not even a month after the previous warning was removed.

The government of the UK today issued a fresh update to its citizens cautioning against visiting the island nation until further notice.

"The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all but essential travel to Sri Lanka, due to the impact of the current economic crisis. This advice does not apply to airside transit through Sri Lanka’s international airport," the UK government said in its updated foreign travel advice.

The United Kingdom is among the top three source market for Sri Lanka tourism and the advisory will further impact arrivals from that country.
