All those who migrate due to new taxation will be taxed at a higher tax rate in their future home, will work harder, no shaming, no demonstrations, no manipulation, work like rats and the list goes on ! Good luck!!

Mr. Pereira,
Because they know that the higher taxes they pay will be used for theirs and their kids benefits and future. Paying tax is an investment, not a "charity"

Loss making SOEs are "assets" for corrupt politicians, corrupt trade union leaders and inefficient workers.
We are paying to maintain these SOEs at the end of the month as taxes from our salary. Privatize these or PPP without any delay. We cannot pay any more as taxes

@Ruwan; Why not recover the taxes ignored of friends and of friends involved in numerous scams? Then the shortage can be recovered, abundantly.

Fight against corruption and get rid of corruption, then your tax will be lower.

Majority of Lankans who demand for tax concessions, fail to understand that the current situation is due to our tax system not been implemented properly during our forefathers time. As a consenquence, we failed economically last April and even the current tax structure does not even come close to what should be taxed from the public. We have become a nation dependent on concessions, benefits and free-for-all services.
