Air Force receives Beechcraft from US

The US government has officially handed over a Beechcraft King Air 360ER, valued at $19 million, to the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) for maritime surveillance and search-and-rescue operations. The SLAF inducted the aircraft during a ceremony attended by Defence Secretary Sampath Thuyacontha, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung, Admiral Stephen Koehler, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet and Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa. THANKS USA FOR THE GENEROUS GIFT TO OUR AIR FORCE, A KIND GESTURE OF GOODWILL AND A COUNTRY WE CAN DEPEND ON FOR DEFENCE AND SECURITY TOGETHER WITH THEIR ALLIANCES. WE HAVE SEEN SOME COMMENTS IN THIS PAPER WHERE SOME HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE USA, NOT SURE WHY, BUT MAJORITY WILL BE PLEASED ANURA'S FLYING TRIPS AROUND HAS BEEN PUT TO GOOD USE AND I AM SURE WE WILL SEE MANY OTHERS COMING IN TO HELP US AFTER THE GENERAL ELECTIONS.
