Excellent - biggest sources of air pollution in Colombo is burning of trash, leaves. And this has already been banned since 2017. Municipalities need to simply enforce the ban and find appropriate way to collect and recycle/compost the waste.

I live in California and here we have high pollution of air due to many factors. I did air monitoring for the State of California before retiring. We have a very good data on seasonal fluctuations of pollutions. The point I want to make is if you want to understand pollution, do a preliminary survey of pollutant distribution, then place permanent monitoring equipment. Take samples at critical times. Go from there to refine the protocol.
