An event was held today to hand over armoured vehicles manufactured by the Sri Lanka Army's Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps to the Sri Lanka police. Army Chief Lt. General Vikum Liyanage and Police Chief C.D. Wickremaratne attended the event. Pix by Kithsiri De Mel

These seem like armored personnel carriers for the UN. Why would the police ever want these? Are these unnecessary or excess vehicles? No other country would want outdated, backward technology having troop carriers so are these being disposed of?
