Bodhi Pooja for Australian bushfire victims

An Adhishtana Bodhi Pooja organised by Sri Lanka Army was held last Tuesday at Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya by Chief Incumbent Ven. Dr. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Nayaka Thera to invoke blessings on Australian bushfire victims and all those who laid their lives to natural and manmade disasters.

Thousands of army personnel attached to security forces headquarters, training schools and army formations islandwide took part in the event graced by Army Commander Shavendra Silva together with the Defence Attaché of the Australian High Commission.

Lord buddha was preaching exactly against this sort of practice. When he was around people were worshipping the sun, moon, trees and big rocks etc. and he explained that you are your own master. If he is around today he would have said the same thing.
