Not unchecked but unofficially approved land grabs. For instance, the buffer zone of Wilpaththuwa done by Chandrasena, Walsapugal, etc. Where are those who worry taking elephants in processions?

Habitats that were enjoyed by Elephants are taken over by powerful politicians as their own, politicians give free land plots to the poor and as a result the land previously used by Elephants have got reduced. The way the various governments distributed land very soon our jungle cover will be reduced to nothing. Poor must be given housing and why not put up flats in the regional areas.

Every time I see the majestic animal trying to adapt to human intrusions to their way of life , they lose their natural survival skills ..and now climate change caused by human activity seem to endanger them more than ever ..We have a tax payer funded dept and a Ministry ..hopefully these pictures story will energize them to action.

Even the poor animals in this country are suffering in hunger. We have to inform them that our president has offered a better life after 2048. The people and animals are suffering equally.

The Wild life Sanctuaries are making enormous revenue. Surely, they can help to upkeep these precious animals, a small donation from tourists and other find raising events would help.

Those who worry taking elephants in processions must exhibit their Bonafide. They don't care of elephant deaths of about 400 per annum and will never do anything as never ever. Tourists can be levied a tax as elephant safety tax when visiting sanctuaries and residing in wildlife areas.

Why doesn't the Wildlife Dept drop off some fodder for them to find in the area?

Elephants in search of food, people in search of food, politicians in search of votes, and this in a land where anything grows but only politicians prosper .Just look at the headlines for verification

If you Sri Lankans cannot take care of your wild life especially the majestic elephant very soon it could have a severe impact on your tourism industry. We visit your country not only to see the beautiful scenery but also the majestic wild elephant in their natural habitat.
