Congratulations England. However,I feel that this is an award from the ICC rather than a win as even after the super overs the scores were equal and the ICC had to find a way of awarding the win.
They decided to consider the highest no.of bounderies and so Eng.was awarded.
was awarded
was awarded as they had the highest no. Of
boundaries.
One may query as to why the ICC did not take into account the lesser no.of wickets fallen to reach the final score,NZ only 8 wickets and Eng.all 10 wkts.
As such it can be argued that the ICC wanted to give the World Cup to Eng. in their home country.
One more thing.Ross Taylor ,star batsman of NZ, was given out LBW by umpire Erasmus and unfortunately NZ did not have reviews to challenge it.RT therefore had to walk out without hesitation.Later when the replay was shown, the ball went past over the wicket withot hitting it.Had RT was not given out the result may have been different.
However one may

In addition to my previous comment I wish to add that one may argue why ICC did not consider giving the win on the basis of the lesser no. of wickets to reach the final score,NZ 8 wkts and Eng.all 10 wkts.
Whether ICC wanted give the win to Eng.in their home country.

My third comment is thatRossTaylor,NZstarbatsman was given out LBW by umpireErasmus. They did not have reviews to challenge.Later when the replay was shown it was seen that the ball went over the wicket without hitting it.Had RT was not given out then the final result may have been different.
result may have been different.

Well done both New Zealand and England. 100 overs of good and competitive cricket cannot be decided just by 2 overs (one each side). The Cup should have been awarded to both sides and both sides should have been declared Champions, whatever the rules may be.
