The Gampaha Bar Association of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with PEaCE/ECPAT Sri Lanka, hosted an event titled "Protecting Children Online: A Legal Perspective and Reform Solutions" in Gampaha recently. The event was held at a time when safeguarding children in the digital age is of paramount importance, The event brought together legal professionals, parents, and concerned citizens from across the region. The event featured a diverse audience, including members of the Gampaha Bar Association, lawyers from outstations, and law enforcement officers from Gampaha. 

In the recent wake of increased digital engagement for educational purposes, it has become crucial to address the challenges associated with child online safety, which largely stem from the misuse of digital technology by the uninformed children. Some of these challenges discussed include cyberbullying, sextortion, sexual exploitation, further exacerbated by the unregulated use of mobile internet connections.
