We Do Not Need Fathers Day in Sri Lanka Because We Love Our Fathers All 365 Days Sunday, 18 June 2023 04:53 PM
As a Sri Lankan who is living in the West, I am surprised to hear the term “ Father’s Day “ mentioned in Sri Lanka. When we were growing up in Jaffna, before the Tamil terror boys took control, the term didn’t exist. I first came to know about it after coming to Britain. In the West they dedicate such a day ones a year simply because there is no family affection like we have in Sri Lanka, and the children have very little liking for their parents, so nationally they have chosen this day to make “tremendous efforts” to care for their fathers for just 24 hours until next year.

What do Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and all the other “assorted” days have in common ? Commercial benefits to retailers. Just another way to make a buck.

Don’t bring the western crap to Sri Lanka. We appreciate our parents daily in Sri Lanka and every religious preacher says the gods at home are the parents.
