First ever low carbon aluminium introduced

The first ever low-carbon aluminium, which is known as 'Ozon' was introduced to Sri Lanka's construction sector recently.

The launching ceremony was held by the company, building sustainable innovation into Sri Lanka's construction sector, Hayley's Group subsidiary and national leader in full-intergrated amuminium manufacturer, Alumex PLC.

Incorporating the most modern and environment- friendly technologies in the world, the new facility enables Alumex to produce the highest quality aluminium billets utilising just 5% of the total energy consumed in primary aluminium manufacture from bauxite.

Automation drives optimisation and is expected to cut energy consumption by up to 20%. Pix by Nimalsiri Edirisinghe
