Federations of Health Professionals today launched their trade union action over several demands in all hospitals, medical centres, except  in Cancer Hospital Maharagama, Entomology unit (IDH) and Blood Bank Colombo. Outdoor patient treatment units in many hospitals were closed as a result of the strike. 

Long queues were seen at State Pharmaceutical sales outlets (Osu sala) due to this.
