IMF Staff level agreement is an achievement on the part of SriLanka, as no other country could stand by SriLanka to rescue this bankrupt country, sacrifices required by the SriLankans to avoid sinking further.

Sacrificing should start with all the perks ( free lunch during parliament sessions/back up vehicles/security for MPs and free housing) enjoyed by the MPs and waste in government departments. MPs should also pay for the housing given to them in Colombo. Do start from the top

This should be though of as just a loan with conditions. IMF is no savior, but just the 'lender of last resort'. Other country if they could get us to change revenue raising would've put up some of those conditions too. India gave credit line worth more than this paltry 3 billion. Probably better to have gotten 5 billion with negotiation with China or India without going to IMF as the aggressive revenue raising and cost cutting could've been timed for the long term.
