The 70th Independence Day Celebration organised by the Vavuniya District Secretariat was held at the Vavuniya Municipal Council ground under the patronage of Industry and Commerce Minister Rishard Bathiudeen this morning. As a former Govt Agent of Vavuniya I am happy that the District is celebrating Independence. Hope Independence day celebrations will strengthen unity. Allow the Tamil people to participate in the manner they think fit. We have to win them over by goodwill to them. We had such unity under British rule and even after until the SLFP demagogues started by SWRD.
