The 6th International Young Police Officers’ Seminar organized by the International Police Association's Sri Lanka Branch was held at the Special Task Force Katukurunda Training Camp under the guidance of IGP CD Wickramaratne and under the direct supervision STF Commandant DIG Waruna Jayasundara. This was the first time such a seminar was held in Sri Lanka. At least 30 police officers under the age of 35 representing 17 countries of the world participated in this seminar.

The Police Are Corrupt All Over The World. But No One Has Thought About How The Police Could Be Replaced By Something Fundamentally New. We Can’t Go On With The Unintelligent System Where We Have Created A Profession, In The Last 200 Years, Consisting Mainly Of Semi- Educated Men And Women, Dressed In Military Style Uniform, And Given “ God Like Powers “ To Control Over Us.

Corruption is a phenomenon which stems from dishonesty. Dishonesty is a human trait. It encompasses not only the Police force but every institution, social, political, private or government. There is very few % of world population who can be rated high on honesty. More in developed world. Less in the developing world. Dishonesty can even prevail in the family institution (main reason for divorce). Can be a husband , wife or even a child. Although we don't call it corruption, such dishonesty within a family can lead to corruption in a family institution. So don't think that its only the Police where the corruption exists. It exists everywhere at different intensities. So you disband Police and replace with something fundamentally new. After sometime it will be the same Police we have today.
