Dudley, NM and Colvin never protected Rogues and they are gentlemen politician. They never clinged on to power like RW. Dudley even went home after handing over the party leadership to Sir John when he understood people are not with him.

I agree bganedra. There is a time to handover leadership in any institution. Not too early. Not too late. Good leader would know the right time for it. All against him wants him to handover leadership when it is the worst time so the UNP can break in to fractions similar to all other parties. RW is too smart not to play in to these elements. No one in the UNP has proven to take up the leadership except demand leadership based on the immature reasoning. RW is the last of the DS Dudley calibre unfortunately. It is more unfortunate that Sri Lanka not being able to get best out of RW
