The National People’s Power (NPP) conducted a protest march and rally in Nugegoda with the theme “Let’s drive away crazy, corrupt regime that sells country & oppresses masses!” The event aimed to express opposition to what the organisers claim as a government that imposes increased taxes, raises commodity prices and electricity bills, sells national resources and enacts repressive decrees. Stop oppressing citizens with protests on school/work days. If you cannot understand the inconvenience public undergo when you protest, you cannot be trusted with administering the country.

Just screaming. No practical solutions to resolve the problems. These guys opposed privatisation previously and the masses have had to absorb the subsequent losses and subsidise the enterprises. This partly led to the current economic mess.

The power of the Sri Lankan people and the very legitimate demands expressed in the NPP protest march will not lead to the success of their political goals without the additional support of other opposition parties!!! In order to radically change the previous disastrous Ranil policy, Sri Lanka not only needs a plan for what it wants to do concretely, but also the united opposition forces with strong, incorruptible leaders who will implement the people's policy! The NPP with Anura Kumara as leader is not enough! The JVP/NPP should make it clear before the election with which partners and personalities from other parties they would enter into “alliances” to save the country!!! The SJB, not with Premadasa, but with Sarath Fonseka in the leadership role, would be the best option to lead the country into the future with new politics!

These guys are against privatization. From where did the govt. get money to pay the salaries of the public sector????? All our hard earned money tax has been used to pay salaries of these non tax paying un productive public sector and these guys want that to continue
