The Praana (Seeds) Sinhala movie premiered at the Liberty Cinema theatre in Kollupitiya. The Sri Lankan trilingual thriller movie was directed by Sanjaya Nirmal and produced by Janaka Perera. Leading film artistes Shyam Fernando, Niranjani Shanmugaraja, Darshan Dharmaraj are playing leading roles, whereas Nita Fernando and King Ratnam play supportive roles. The film is based on the true story of the Great Christian Massacre of nearly 700 Christians in 1544 in Mannar and the chain of events related to the same massacre repeated in 1560. This film is a pure propaganda for the Catholics. Christian religion did not exist in Sri Lanka before European invasion of Sri Lanka. So how did the Mannar Hindus became Catholics ? They were converted to Catholicism by the Invading Portuguese military and then they were used by the Portuguese to gather intelligence about the Tamil military strength in Jaffna and later to attack the Hindu Tamil Kingdom of Jaffna.
