You can see the poverty in the faces of the demonstrating officials! You can tell that they have suffered hardship for a long time! When you know the amount of social assistance the poor and the poorest in the country receive and then read that officials who live in secure conditions are demonstrating for higher salaries, you are at a loss for words to comment on their bad behavior!!!

Its impossible to increase salaries every time fue to financial issues that country facing dud to bdebt obligations but what government must do is to reduce the cost of living taxes etc.etc. porr middle-class cant effort to have a needs for home food gas electricity clothes school needs traveling due to high increase in prices for the past few years something seriously need to be done to surport the mojority facing financial difficulties and mental stress by reducing some of the important categories that have massive impact on working class families government must get behind this critical issues to minimize poor suffering and provide some comfort

Utterly unenlightened and unmotivated group of people who are badly in need of proper management training.

Intimidation by the Navy? Thursday, 02 May 2024 05:23 PM
So why is the Army and Navy brought in? Surely, the Police should be able to handle a protest by unarmed civilians!!

Won’t Allow Protest To Grow Bigger Thursday, 02 May 2024 06:26 PM
This will be their SOP before it becomes out of hand. Now they are more organised and prepared after 2022 crisis. Won’t allow the protest to grow bigger once it’s seen it will be difficult to dismantle. So keep it small, peaceful and all might be ok. Good luck!

I agree, how overly sensitive to public opprobrium can a government get, to have armed personnel attend a peaceful protest with weapons. But, I would rather have the weapons in the hands of a disciplined force like the Navy than the other sycophantic forces. I seriously doubt the Navy will ever fire on their own people unprovoked even on government orders.

These guys seems to be living a luxury life. Look at the size of some of the fellows. Looks like daily drinkers.RW had a good chance to cut down government sector but he followed the same process as previous regimes.

All are fighting to get an increase in their salaries but nobody to talk for retired senior citizens who are suffering silently since the FD interest rates went down drastically.

A Sinhala protest ? Why not hold few placards in English for me to show my English friends.

English! What about in Tamil? The mother tongue of 25% of the island's population and an official language that on paper is in par with Sinhalese, that these state officers should be fluent in, but looks like they do not.

These hooks and crooks are not performing their duties properly. One such example is, 8th floor EPF Section at CBSL Gigling and joking at each other, talking about politics, etc. Even the phones are giving musical tone after dialing extensions.

Why don't you print more money and obliged to their request. As cabral said printing moneybhas no effects to inflation..... those government executives must realise of the consequences to increase the salaries.... if they want more money find another extra job ....

If anything all government employees should be getting their salaries reduced. We ade bankrupt and still borrowing money from IMF World Bank ADB to pay for government expenditure because our income is still not enough to meet our expenditure
