The "Ransalu" National Handicrafts Industry Exhibition and Trade Fair 2023, a collaborative effort by the Department of Industries and the Department of Textile Industry, is set to take place at the open-air grounds of BMICH. Featuring approximately 40 stalls showcasing handloom-related clothing and the latest creative items, the event will be open from 10 am to 10 pm until December 4th. Pix by Kithsiri De Mel.

These are only for the show - no efforts to practice. The local industry was ruined by JRJ Government open economy initiatives post 1977.

I am amazed at the skill and the dedication at the loom . It sure needs artistry, skill and great precision to turn out saris of such beauty .Bless you all ..we are indeed proud of you . .I treasure the sari I bought the last time I visited this blessed isle .its so unique and its so SriLankan .
