Rocks fall on train

The up-country railway services were disrupted due to a rock falling on the track between the Haputale and Diyatalawa railway stations this morning. The Railways Department said the rocks fell on the engine of the Badulla-bound train from Colombo. Pix by Prasad Rukmal

Well, it seems like Mother Nature decided to spice up the morning commute! She must have thought, 'Oh, let's give these trains a rock-solid challenge today!' Good thing nobody was hurt, though. It's like the railway is part of this long-standing nature vs. infrastructure rivalry since colonial times – a classic battle of rocks versus rails! Time to clean up and get those tracks running smoothly again. Can't keep the train-loving crowd waiting; after all, this track has seen its fair share of journeys from the British colonial era till now!
