Ambassador Kananathan personally extended his congratulations to President Déby, emphasizing the longstanding friendship and respect between Sri Lanka and Chad. 
President Mahamat Idriss Déby assumed office three years prior after the passing of his father, Idriss Déby, who had governed Chad for three decades. Initially committing to early elections, Déby Jr.'s government faced delays but eventually upheld democratic processes, reflecting Chad's journey towards stability amidst regional political shifts.
