Though they are profit making, the profits they make is so useless to the capital investments.

Privatisation is the way to go in this modern day. This will make the workers more efficient.

SL Telecom is already 45% owned by a Dutch company. It would be best to sell the rest to the Dutch as well. This would then prevent political influence, bribery and good profits could be made. The protesting employees are only concerned that they will not be able to continue their laziness at the expense of the telephone customers. The Dutch would immediately fire lazy, work-shy and unskilled workers. SLT is triple overstaffed anyway. This would then also give customers cheap flat rates like in Europe.

Its good SLT to be free from the government by selling off the 49.5%. Then they can have a solid management policy and governance unlike changing heads after every new government. And this profit cannot liquidize or enough for further investments to face challenging times. However, politically appointed people will oppose.

Like in most countries, AI will eventually take over these telecommunication roles. So the work force needs to adapt to the changing environment.

JVP and other So called failing trade unions dont like privatization, because their political dreams will be shattered.
theses workers are fooled by theses trade unions saying privation will be bad for workers.
PRIVATION will make workers more productive and the lazy ones can be fired. we need more productive people than so called lazy workers who suck up to politicians

only those who don't want to work hard will oppose privatization.
Then cry foul asking for system change
