Catch the people importing it, not just users after they buy, alot of dealers pay off police to let them run their business and only catch buyers after they bought, the real criminals are the ones importing it, how many containers enter sl unchecked because of political interference

Drugs are smuggled in super luxury vehicles not these small vehicles being checked.

Doesn't police need a probable cause to search your automobile? If no consent, probable cause or warrant, would the search stand up in courts?

Trying to catch small fishes. They know who brings drugs. But no action. We read every day stories of drug arrests, but no one knows as to what happens to the drugs recovered. In a country where top to bottom is corrupt, I have the feeling that arrested drugs go back into the market through the dealers known to those in the arrest team.

How about the big whales rather than the small sprats? Didn't an ex-President once rush to the house of a big time connected drug baron immediately after a raid to help that person get off the hook promptly? Let's hear some headlines of the whales being netted in and kept locked up too.

Lol. What about intelligence unit. Use those rather than harassing people on the road like this. If by any chance a new aragaya comes, it will come very hard on the government when this kind of harassing is ongoing.

Without fear you should continually carry on these checks all over the country

If they find drugs in a three-wheeler, the driver might say he doesn't know anything, may be the drugs belong to the passenger who was in the vehicle at the time of the search operation. Be aware!

This is not an effective deterrent to this drug problem in the country instead initiate action against the persons and big wigs who get down container loads of drugs, name them and arrest them in order to get rid of the drug menace instead of going behind two bit distributors.

Random checking of vehicles is of no use and is extremely questionable from a legal point of view. Unless there is an urgent suspicion of a crime and there is imminent danger, a search warrant signed by a judge is required for every search of a vehicle. How about some investigative work by the CID detectives? In this island nation, it's very easy to trace the petty drug dealers back to the drug lords. However, since many politicians are involved in the drug trade, this is probably not wanted. This special search operation is only intended to reassure the population and show that something is being done about drug trafficking.

Every time it's a drama. Why traffickers only? Big fish still bring in just checking paddlers. All this is to divert the attention of people. Nothing but just bullying the people
