Do a secret video for few days and record evidence to capture the culprits. Once captured the punishment should be to pay a hefty fine and do street cleaning for 2 weeks minimum. But fancy lawyers will come to their defence.

So disgusting when well established companies do not have adequate systems in place to esnsure that there garbage is disposed of properly. They should not be permitted to pass the blame on to any of their subcontractors.

Hikkaduwa beach is similar. It's appalling that the local people do not realise they are damaging their own environment and therefore harming their own economic chances. Tourists do not want to sit on a beach with tons of trash. No wonder Hikkaduwa and other places are ghost towns.

High time Srilanka stop free plastic bags at the supermarket. Including Walmart USA, the low end supermarket (price wise) stopped giving free plastic bags and all the customers now bring their own bag. I see the amount plastic bags used in Srilankan supermarket and high time we stop all this. Government should consider installing drinking water fountains so pepople can fill their water. We should stop poluting our beautiful Island.

People elected Gota based on what he achieved some years ago, but he was effective only until the Parliament elections when the thieves got elected. Then came covid and resultant economic issues. Gota messed up and indicated that he was a weaker president. Then some people with funding from some countries staged a 'Gota Go Home' campaign and got rid of him. Then came a man who was rejected by people during his entire political carreer. Gota just gave him the opportunity and so far he managed but things that Gota was good at like city maintenance had gone into a mess. Now you can see garbage at every corner like we saw during the period of Yahapalana government. I think living with garbage and diseases is what people in this country really deserve.

This is a horrendous situation everywhere that prevails within the city limits of Colombo. It is the responsibility of the Colombo Municipal Council to maintain cleanliness in every square inch of the city. As a matter of fact this has been going on for a very long time and CMC is well aware of this problem but they didn't care. CMC Mayor is answerable.

The only way to solve this issue is to improve the existing garbage collection system. Every household is generating rubbish every day, but they do not have a proper disposable method especially the people who reside in apartment complexes.

Our Sri Lankan's will never ever learn lessons. If so this country would have been much developed. Every year the health department and public will cry dengue, dengue but never stop throwing garbage on the roads and around environment.

What Sri Lanka needs is designated Bin on every street and public places so that people will have something to deposit their trash. This need to follow with a good garbage collection service and recycling plants.
