Government teachers in Sri Lanka should be ashamed of themselves for their total failure to create good leaders for the country. These teachers are only interested in their salaries and benefits and 99% of the students depend tuition sharks for obtaining the knowledge. Tuition sharks are becoming billionaires within no time. Average charge is Rs 1500 on the lower side.

I am Sri Lankan living in Britain. The situation here is exactly the same like in Sri Lanka. Almost all the school students have private tutors specially in Maths and Science. The unbelievable fact is half the maths teachers in British schools don’t have maths or maths related degrees but almost 100% of the private maths tutors have maths or maths related degrees. It is these private tutors who help to produce the good grades. Yet resources are wasted on “Teacher Training” where they study the theory of education which has no relevance to possessing maths knowledge and the ability to explain it to the students. I wonder this stupid people ruled us for 150 years.

Our Ministers know to showcase such events showing the public they are doing something for education. But that's it.
