If only such an operation was done to tackle corruption with government, that is more of an important issue than catching small fish dealers, the whole country suffers because of thieves in government, they are probably the big fish in trafficking else how would drugs enter country so easily, they target fishing trawlers as a show or to get rid of competition, but how much drugs are imported in containers? Only officials or politicians can influence customs officials to exempt containers from inspections, or like what the stf did, hijack containers from customs officials to hide the truth like the cigarettes found in container, what news of that? Swept under carpet ofcourse

@Tissa Fernando no one opposes the operation which is very good what the public opposes is unnecessary media mileage which does not click in an election at hand. My question is aren't there many arms of government departments doing spendid jobs but nothing is being highlighted because all government servants are accomplishing their duty for the salaries they earn. Similary the Police is also doing their duty for which they are paid. In the past the Police was unable to accomplish their duties since the main culprits are some legislators and their lackeys. We had superb Police officers whose records were never tarnished with past records of blemishes the only thing is their hands were tied due to many influential politicians using undue pressure on them. When judging we need to analyse what is the main reasons for the new change by the top brass who were also holding positions in the past who could have initiated this all out exercise!! As such it does not hold water !!!!

Look my friend, Terrance, if they are catching criminals then why are you worried about? Public safety is at all time low due to these criminals operating freely with the help of lawyers and human rights activists. Sri Lanka is becoming like a western country where mugging ,shootings murders, hate crimes , robberies are happening everyday. So you must support them even if it is done with other side objectives. Cameras rolling will help clear any future falsified human rights violation charged that may be fabricated by the lawyers.
