Can't stomach the pain of separation
In an emotional scenario, this nine-year-old boy Tharusha Lakshan is feeding his only sister - two-year-old Chalanika Kavisha who is not big enough to realize that she is going to lose his brotherly love for two weeks, moments before they go their separate ways. Court had ordered that these two children be sent to two separate orphanages, until they could be sent to the SOS village in Moneragala in two weeks time, as there was no one to look after them following the death of their mother and their father’s imprisonment.
This fate befell these innocent children as their mother was murdered two years ago. Their father is serving a jail term for killing his mother-in-law to avenge his wife’s murder in the Ella area. After the children were produced before the Bandarawela Magistrate, the Probation and Child Care Department was ordered to send the boy to the Ambegoda Children’s Orphanage and the little girl to the Bandarawela Sujatha Children’s Orphanage temporarily.
