oh gosh many elephants is it going to take to put up fencing? the government spends on products that are not needed. if this area is a hot spot for elephant crossing. fencing should be put up. and a culvert of bridge should be built for an elephant cori-door. Mr minister of transport and who ever is charge of animal welfare, what are you guys doing. the money should be spent to protect these creatures, and not import bloody racing cars.

The idea of electric fencing is OK to prevent elephants getting killed but then again what would the Sinhala Buddhists say because that may also harm the elephants. Again, with a government which is unable to provide any sort of gates on railyway crossings for the human beings to prevent accidental deaths, what hope is there for the animals. The monies which were wasted on the so called Colombo Night Races would have been sufficient to provide the much needed gates for the railway crossings, if the government was honest.

There is very little that could be done to avoid this. Electrified fencing is not a solution as elephants have to cross the tracks to get to the other side. The only sensible is for trains to travel at a safer speed and have a high pitched whistle to warn elephants.

What a tragedy! Why can't we do electric fencing along the railways lines? Please do something to save these innocent animals. Some things are really fishy and I wonder if they have a plan to relocate all the elephant to one secluded area. Really sad.

This is ridiculous. I thought the trains were supposed to go at a certain speed to avoid such horrifying accidents of elephants in these areas.Who is responsible for such a loss? I wont be surprised to see the Sinhala Buddhists being blamed( as always) for this by certain individuals.

Aiyooo day before yesterday one badly injured after being hit by a train, Today another two. There should be a method to drive the elephants away from rail track when the train is one the way.
