Why that parallel would not work in this instance is because, US government takes steps against its own military for abuse of power, whereas we do not. Secondly, US has tremendous influence in international politics, whereas we do not. Under the circumstances, if we put our own house in order without comparing with other countries, so much the better for us.

Govt leaders blasting West in open and praising India & China but when they receive an invitation from West they do not think twice just rush there and these are the results.

The treatment for MR in the UK must be condemned by all the diplomatic community! I think it is high time for our foreign services to go through the whole saga and make a strategic review. What if when Brack Obama visits UK, some Al Qaeda shouted slogans and call for an investigation on thousands that had been killed in Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc? It is logical to draw parallels here, as LTTE at the end of the day is a terrorist outfit. The steps must be taken by the foreign ministry to nip these unwarranted protests by the bud, before they turn into a diplomatic catastrophe of the century, as no Sri Lanka politician might be able to visit London! Do not misunderstand this event with freedom of speech, as one can’t have exercised the freedom speech, by violating the same of another. All political parties must stand as one, and condemn this event!!!
