full moon day is not a public holiday in other Buddhist countries like Japan,China.They want to work and contribute to the economic growth which will bring prsperity that leads to peace and serenity to ALL communities

economic development is not a factor for peace and serenity. It is good that poya day is a public holiday in Sri Lanka so that whoever wants to observe sill or religious observance can do them without any problem.

Peace is not coming through sill. It is silly! Basic needs of the people should be full filled. If everyone work hard, those problems will be solved! Most peaceful countries are people with hardworking! with mutual understanding! UK is a good example! more social benefits and unemployment caused the riots! Srilanka is too! We have public holidays for Poya for decades! There is no peace even in south without war! God is inside you! you do not need holiday to worship! You should be religious every day! Not once a month!
