Exactly. He fumbled, stuttered, and wasn't convincing either. Why can't Sri Lanka plan well before such international engagements? I get the feeling that the Govt has plans of warding off the negative fallout by going for an election riding on the wave.

Relax guys, this resolution is not against Sri Lanka but it's against the stupid government we have. Nearly all of us blame the government for the failing democracy, increased corruption, puppet judiciary, bloating politicians, white vans, media suppression, forceful extortion of land, increased religious tensions and all that. But when it comes to a resolution in UNHRC to hold the government accountable, all of a sudden we are trying to protect it. If the government is held accountable through the UNHRC, then it is good for all citizens on Sri Lanka, not the Americans. So we all should support it.

Sri Lanka has no chance to get away with these resolutions. So they are sending this guy as a ‘prey’. Do not forget that he crossed over to ruling party to strengthen the President’s hand, and now he gets an opportunity to prove it.
