Executive Presidency does not work in Sri Lanka. No matter who sits in that chair, they will change in seconds. Even GOD will not be an exception.

Yes I can remember she telling when I come to power within one year will abolish the Executive Presidency. But she re contested again. In fact I can remember having a bet with a lady who supported CBK in 1993 told her ( Next year you see if CBK will hand over power to Parliament ) . I was correct. And this will be the same case even now. Who ever who comes to power Ex Presidency before election will tell Will abolish but after siting on that Chair will not keep to their promise. The best president we had was Hon JR Jayawardana. He limited his period for 2, some one extended. now the excutive presidency badly managed. Executive presidency value lies on the person who is in the helm. Still MR cando llot good things ,if he wants. like implementing 17amendment ,by activating Bribery commission, Many things. otherwise we all should help to abolish the Executive presidency and We need not Executive premier too.
