Sri Lanka batsmen find form against England


Sri Lanka Board XI scored 392 for 9 at stumps on day one in the two-day warm up match against England at the NCC grounds. The openers put 99 runs for the first wicket before Kaushal Silva retired out after scoring 62 off 82 balls. Skipper Thirimanne who opened batting with Silva scored a patient 45 off 120 balls. Sadeera Samarawickrema also retired out after making 58 off 66 balls while Angelo Mathews made a brisk 45 off 38 balls.  Ashan Priyanjan also contributed with a half century before retiring out. DM Sarathchandra was unbeaten on 59 off 56 balls.

English bowlers which include James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Joe Denly, Moeen Ali ad Adil Rashid did not enjoy much success as Sri Lankan batters scored runs at will. Sri Lanka will play three Test matches with the first starting on November 6 in Galle.
