Super Four matches ended in draws


Roshen's double ton lights up the Super Four tournament

The opening matches of the Super Fours 4-day Provincial tournament ended in draws yesterday.  At Katunayake, Kandy chasing 373 to win, reached 221 for the loss of two wickets at stumps on day four. Mahela Udawatte who missed a century by three runs in the first innings remained unbeaten on 103 while Niroshan Dickwella who made a first innings score of 112 was unbeaten on 56.  The duo shared 127 runs for the third wicket.

In the second match played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota, Team Galle batting second were 177 for the loss of three wickets, a lead of 320 runs. Galle made 476 in their first innings on the back of a career-best double century (231) by Roshen Silva. In reply, Team Colombo managed 333 runs with national discard Lahiru Thirimanne hitting an unbeaten 125 runs.

At Hambantota:

Team Galle: 476 and 177 for 3 (Lahiru Milantha 74 not out, S Samarawickrema 77, Vishwa Fernando 2 for 24)
Team Colombo: 333 in 95.5 overs (104/2 o/n) (Dananjaya de Silva 66, Lahiru Thirimanne 125 n.o. Kaveesha Anjula 46, Lasith Ambuldeniya 24, Dilshad 2/49, Akila Dananjaya 3/61, Chaturange de Silva 2/22)

At Katunayake:

Team Dambulla: 480 and 256 all out (Dimuth Karunaratne 40, Sachithra Serasinghe 37, Milinda Siriwardana 71. Sachithra Senanayake 60. Kasun Rajitha 3/49, Lahiru Kumara 3/61, Shehan Jayasuriya 2/39))
Team Kandy: 364  (Mahela Udawatte 97, Niroshan Dickwella 112, Priyamal Perera 62, Lahiru Gamage 5/71, Sachithra Serasinghe 2/39) and 221 for 2 (Mahela Udawatte 103 not, Charith Asalankka 30, Niroshan Dickwella  56 not out)
