England may be on an upward Test curve following victory in South Africa, but in Sri Lanka they will be up against a coach who has their number. Mickey Arthur was appointed to lead Sri Lanka across all formats late last year after being overlooked for the England job by the ECB’s director of cricket, Ashley Giles. That was despite Arthur boasting an incredible record of success against England during his time with both South Africa and Pakistan

Lakshan Sandakan eventually broke the opening stand in the ninth over, King holing out for 33, but the pair had already put on 74 runs.
West Indies may have posed a good challenge to Sri Lanka in two of the three recently-concluded One-Day Internationals. However, the hosts turned out to be quite feisty in conditions they call home and managed to whitewash the visitors 3-0 to finish on a high. Barring the second ODI that Sri Lanka won by 161 runs, the margin of the other two being of one wicket and six runs show how close West Indies were, but they couldn’t finish the job.

West Indies haven’t had much to gloat whenever they have visited the Sri Lankan shores. On their previous two tours, when they travelled for a bilateral ODI series, West Indies failed to win even a single game. But recent history suggests that a reversal in fortunes could very well be on the cards.
